You are the Author of Your Story (Going into the New Year with “Author” on my mind)

Although I have taken many steps in the direction of “author”, this is one BIG STEP! I am officially launching my Author Page. When I searched the web, I found Dr. Pamela June the psychologist. It was easy to see that my digital footprint as author was yet to be born. And I realized it was necessary for me to make that happen. I had to take that first step. There is a lesson here.

The lesson is not letting the past or what currently exists to limit your future direction. Certainly our past has shaped us into the person we are today. Every experience, every encounter, every pain and every joy, has molded you and led you to this point in time. Where you go from here is another story. The good news is that you get to write that story.

As you go into the New Year, now is a time to take a pause and allow yourself to breathe, reflect, think and visualize what direction you want your story to go. Take a moment to think about what you want this year to bring, the next 3 years and 5 years. Don’t limit yourself by what you have done in the past or where you stand today. Each day, each moment we have a new opportunity to determine who we want to be.

When thinking about who you want to be consider a broad view of you: What is your vision, your dream? What do you value? What behaviors do you need to reach your goals? What habits do you need to break? What habits do you need to develop? What would make you a better person? better friend? better parent? better daughter/son? better partner? better colleague? How can you use your talents/skills/expertise to serve others? What are you passionate about?

What one thing can you do now to take one step toward your goal? Take a deep breath. And take that one step.

Please share your thoughts about this post and/or that one step you can take towards your goal in the comments below.

Prayers for success as you write your story in the New Year.
